LowPing Privacy Policy

LowPing is made by Rockface Tech Systems Inc. This policy is short because there is not much to tell. LowPing does not collect your data.

Summary

The only thing LowPing ever sends is the ping packets you ask it to send, to the address you choose. Everything else stays on your phone. There are no accounts, no analytics, no ads, no tracking and no third-party code.

What LowPing does

When you enter an address and start a session, LowPing sends a tiny "are you there?" message to that address and times how long the reply takes. This is the same standard test (called an ICMP ping) that network engineers have used for decades. You see your fastest, average and slowest times, how steady they are, and how many pings never came back. To find the address you typed, your phone looks it up the same way it does when you open a website. Your ping traffic goes only to the address you chose.

What LowPing does not collect

• No name, email, or contact information
• No location
• No identifiers, advertising or otherwise
• No usage analytics of any kind
• No data linked to you, shared with anyone, or used for tracking

LowPing has no server. There is nothing to send your data to.

What stays on your phone

• Settings and the last used address. Saved on your phone using Apple's standard storage for app settings.
• Ping results. They live on the screen while the app is open and are gone when you close it. Nothing is written down.
• Optional diagnostics. Your iPhone can generate a daily report about crashes and performance and share it with the app. LowPing keeps these reports on your phone. Inside LowPing, open Settings and tap Diagnostics to see how many are stored, share them yourself if you choose to, and delete them with one tap. Nothing is ever sent automatically.

Deleting the app deletes all of the above.

Network access and permissions

• Ping packets are not private on the network. Every ping tool works this way. Your internet provider, and the networks your ping travels through, can see that you sent it.
• Local Network permission. iOS asks for your OK before any app can talk to devices on your own network, like your router. LowPing asks only so pings to local addresses work. It does not scan your network.
• Even LowPing's own internal notes leave out the addresses you typed. They contain nothing but timing numbers.

Third parties

None. No third-party code, no analytics companies, no ad networks. If you install beta versions through TestFlight, Apple's TestFlight terms cover what Apple collects there.

Children

LowPing is a network utility. It collects no data from anyone, including children, and has no content aimed at children.

Changes

If a future version ever changes any of this, for example an optional feature that talks to a server, we will update this page first, and the change will be spelled out in the App Store listing before that version reaches you.
